Softball Game Preview: Newington Nor easters vs. Platt Panthers

Newington is a perfect 4-0 against Platt since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Nor easters will be playing at home against the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Newington fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Berlin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redcoats. The Nor easters have struggled against the Redcoats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Aniyah Ross was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maiya Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Platt came up short against Lewis Mills on Friday, falling 16-4.

Platt saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrienne McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Newington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Platt, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Newington got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Platt by a conclusive 18-6 score. Do the Nor easters have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
