Softball Recap: Richland Center Takes a Loss

Richland Center suffered their closest loss since April 30, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Auburndale Apaches by a score of 3-1. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyree Fischer put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

Richland Center's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Auburndale, their win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richland Center will challenge Lancaster at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Auburndale, they will square off against Marathon at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
