Basketball Game Preview: South Houston Trojans vs. Alvin Yellowjackets

The South Houston Trojans will head out to take on the Alvin Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Houston will be strutting in after a win while Alvin will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, South Houston turned things around against Sam Rayburn on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 76-55 margin over the Texans. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Alvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Pearland 52-22. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while the Oilers are ranked 207th).

South Houston's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Alvin, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16.

Everything came up roses for South Houston against Alvin when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 62-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Houston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
