The Montour Spartans will face off against the Ellwood City Wolverine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Montour is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Montour came out on top against Baldwin on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Spartans took their matchup against the Highlanders 8-3.
Michael Ivanoff was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Ivanoff was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Andrew Porto was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Matteo Weber was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Ellwood City waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverine, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jacob Biskup was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gino Biondi, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Ellwood City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shenango only posted an OBP of .412.
Montour has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Ellwood City, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Montour has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ellwood City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
