Basketball Game Preview: Westfield Bulldogs vs. Woodson Cavaliers

The Westfield Bulldogs will challenge the Woodson Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westfield has given up an average of 53 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Westfield heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. The contest between Westfield and South Lakes didn't end well, with Westfield falling 67-51. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Woodson came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 61-53.

Woodson's win came from a few key players Westfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was William Taylor, who posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylen Chilton, who shot 57% from the field to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds.

Woodson pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7.

Westfield came up short against Woodson in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, falling 60-47. Can Westfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
