Softball Game Preview: Ridgewood Generals vs. Tuscarawas Valley Trojans

For the second straight game, Ridgewood will face off against Tuscarawas Valley. The Generals will welcome the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ridgewood is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Tuscarawas Valley just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 9-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Generals were not able to get on the board.

For Tuscarawas Valley's part, Brennen Reichman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Reichman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arieana Wade, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Elliott Wallick was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory keeps Tuscarawas Valley at an undefeated 15-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1.
