Softball Recap: Longmeadow's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Longmeadow got themselves on the board against Pope Francis Prep on Wednesday, but Pope Francis Prep never followed suit. They blew past the Cardinals 17-0. Considering the Lancers have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Delaney Schrager was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexi Winkler, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Longmeadow's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Pope Francis Prep, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Longmeadow will challenge Minnechaug Regional at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.93 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pope Francis Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampden Charter School of Science at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
