Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Titans vs. Trimble Tomcats

The Notre Dame Titans will take on the Trimble Tomcats at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Trimble will be up against a hot Notre Dame squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Notre Dame blew past East 50-24 on Friday. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Tartans are ranked 775th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Notre Dame's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laney Strickland, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds. Notre Dame is 9-2 when Strickland posts ten or more boards, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaysa Bryant, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Notre Dame smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Trimble, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat East 49-13.

Trimble's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Notre Dame, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Notre Dame came up short against Trimble in their previous matchup back in January, falling 42-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Trimble's Mckenzie Eing, who went 11-for-17 on her way to 24 points. Now that Notre Dame knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
