Softball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Mater Dei Catholic came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Christian Patriots get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Arri Romero, who gave up just four hits to keep Christian off the board. Romero has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mater Dei Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Analesse 'Peanut' Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Garcia has posted since back in April. Another was Maya Matthies, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mater Dei Catholic pushed their record up to 24-7 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 23-8-1.
