Basketball Game Preview: Centura Centurions vs. Fort Calhoun Pioneers

After both having extra time off, the Centura Centurions and the Fort Calhoun Pioneers will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Centura is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They secured a 56-52 W over Ord last Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.

It was another big night for Barrett Fries, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyus Francl, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Fort Calhoun posted their biggest victory since February 8th last Friday. They really took it to David City for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-32 win. The Pioneers pushed the score to 49-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Scouts had little chance of recovering from.

Fort Calhoun's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Centura, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Centura was dealt a bruising 60-33 loss at the hands of Fort Calhoun in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Centura avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
