Basketball Recap: Gilbert Christian Now 16-1 over Last 17 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Gilbert Christian rose to the challenge on Saturday. They escaped with a win against the San Tan Charter Roadrunners by the margin of a single free throw, 73-72. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 97-72 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gilbert Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Fermoyle, who on his way to 21 points and seven boards. What's more, Fermoyle posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Olson, who earned 18 points and five rebounds.

Gilbert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points over those games. San Tan Charter's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-10.

Coming up, Gilbert Christian will venture away from home to square off against Valley Christian at 8:15 p.m. on March 1st. Valley Christian will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Gilbert Christian surely won't give up without a fight. San Tan Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
