Recap: Goshen RedHawks vs. South Bend Washington Panthers
On Saturday, Goshen came up short against South Bend Washington and fell 58-45. While losing is never fun, Goshen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while South Bend Washington is ranked 85th).
Several RedHawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Eldridge, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Eldridge scored a full 28.9% of Goshen's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gage Worthman, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
South Bend Washington was led to victory by Steven Reynolds 3 and Da'Kori Parker. Reynolds 3 scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Parker scored 18 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. The match was Parker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Johnson, who scored 9 points.
Goshen now has a losing record at 1-2. As for South Bend Washington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goshen will challenge Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhart comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for South Bend Washington, they will head out on the road to face off against South Bend Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
