Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for North Hagerstown

North Hagerstown came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the GVCS Broadfording Lions as they made off with a 13-2 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Hubs this season.

Joey Dorsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Blake Custer was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Ian Kelley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

North Hagerstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

North Hagerstown's record now sits at 12-3. As for GVCS Broadfording, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Looking ahead, North Hagerstown will look to defend their home field on Friday against Smithsburg at 4:45 p.m. As for GVCS Broadfording, they will square off against Hancock at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
