Football Recap: Cedar Grove Takes a Loss

Cedar Grove extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They had to suffer through a 50-18 loss at the hands of the Stephenson Jaguars. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 40-20 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Stephenson, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.2 points.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Anthony Booker and Jayden Johnson. Booker rushed for 187 yards and three scores on only nine carries while Johnson rushed for 240 yards and one TD while picking up 15.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Booker is now averaging an impressive 106.6 rushing yards per game.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Grove will challenge North Clayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Stephenson, after each having a week off, they and Riverdale will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Jaguars will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.14 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
