Baseball Recap: Lima Senior Takes a Loss

Lima Senior extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-16 in the process. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Start. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Start this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-1 defeat two weeks ago.

Brady Wright was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases. He has become a key player for Lima Senior: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-15 otherwise.

As for Start, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

On Start's side, the team relied heavily on Joe Buck, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydin Roesner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Lima Senior and Start could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 661st) will meet Bath (ranked 220th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Start will face off against Findlay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (429 vs. 84).
