Baseball Recap: Salida Has No Trouble Against Florence

After only two runs in their last matchup, Salida made sure to put some runs up on the board against Florence on Saturday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Spartans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Bryce Rodrigue was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Salida's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Anthony Taverna was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The win got Salida back to even at 10-10. As for Florence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Salida has already played their next game, a 17-7 victory against Woodland Park on the 13th. Florence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
