Basketball Recap: Sandburg Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Sandburg won the last time they faced Stagg and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sandburg Eagles came out on top against the Stagg Chargers by a score of 58-45. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Chargers are ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Sandburg and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Stagg, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-19.

Sandburg will take on Homewood-Flossmoor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Homewood-Flossmoor knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Sandburg likes a good challenge. As for Stagg, they will venture away from home to face off against Lincoln-Way West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
