Baseball Recap: Santana's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Santana lost to Montgomery back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Sultans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Aztecs.

Israel Sanchez looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Santana's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Landers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Donovan Shannon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Santana's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Montgomery, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santana will take on Helix at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Montgomery, they will square off against Monte Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Aztecs are facing the Monarchs at the right time seeing as the Monarchs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
