Basketball Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Comes Up Short

Capistrano Valley Christian was the 76-48 winner over St. Margaret when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tartans on Wednesday.

When it comes to explaining why Capistrano Valley Christian lost, don't look at Benjamin Makelela. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards. Makelela has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Lemery, who posted nine points along with seven boards and five assists.

Capistrano Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for St. Margaret's, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Capistrano Valley Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) at 5:30 p.m. on December 2.
