Volleyball Recap: Browne Takes a Loss

Browne lost against Maryvale back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bruins fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Browne started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-11.

Diego Ortiz paced Browne's offense, picking up 15 kills. Ortiz got some help from Isaac Adrian Dominguez and his 28 assists. Ortiz was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Leading Maryvale to victory were Jhonthan Garcia and Justin Gaxiola. Garcia had 24 assists and six digs, while Gaxiola had 19 digs, 16 kills, two aces, and one block. Gaxiola is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. Juan Vazquez also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Browne's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Maryvale, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8.

As of now, neither Browne nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
