Basketball Recap: Miami-Yoder Takes a Loss

Miami-Yoder lost to Elbert back in January of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buffaloes were beaten by the Bulldogs 52-23. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 101st).

Despite the defeat, Miami-Yoder had strong showings from Jordan Hume, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 14 points and six boards, and Isaac Tinoco, who posted two points and four steals. Tinoco is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played.

Elbert's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Tesman, who shot 55% from the field en route to 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Jeremiah LaChausse was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Miami-Yoder has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Elbert, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Miami-Yoder wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-36 loss against Liberty Tree Academy on the 17th. As for Elbert, they have also already played their next contest, a 63-17 victory against Deer Trail on the 17th.
