Basketball Recap: Peachtree Ridge Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Spanish Springs

It was a proper cat-fight when Peachtree Ridge took on Spanish Springs on Monday. The Peachtree Ridge Lions came out on top against the Spanish Springs Cougars by a score of 52-41. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 109th in Georgia, while the Cougars are ranked fifth in Nevada).

Owen Hensley and Travis Lee certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Hensley dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards, while Lee posted ten points. Hensley is becoming a predictor of Spanish Springs' success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 6-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Peachtree Ridge's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Spanish Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Peachtree Ridge will take on Lee County on Saturday. As for Spanish Springs, they will venture away from home to take on Galena at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Galena knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Spanish Springs likes a good challenge.
