Football Recap: Cleveland Falls Short of Rolesville in the Playoffs

Cleveland and Rolesville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Cleveland had to settle for second. They were dealt a 49-6 defeat at the hands of the Rolesville Rams. Cleveland's loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Cleveland wouldn't let Rolesville keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Jaylen King was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last seven games he's played. Sawyer Lowe was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

A big part of Rolesville's win came down to the chemistry between Braden Atkinson and his top target AJ Roberts. Atkinson threw for 230 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes while Roberts picked up 129 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in receiving touchdowns. Amir Brown helped Atkinson out on the ground, rushing for 63 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cleveland fell to 13-1. As for Rolesville, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Cleveland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rolesville has also already played their next matchup, a 38-31 win against Cardinal Gibbons on the 13th.
