Baseball Game Preview: Sherwood Marksmen vs. Archie Whirlwinds

The Sherwood Marksmen are taking a road trip to square off against the Archie Whirlwinds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sherwood has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 26.

Sherwood came up short against Butler on Tuesday, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Archie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Jasper on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Whirlwinds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Tanner Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Archie's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kale Snook, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Archie's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Sherwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Sherwood might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Archie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Marksmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
