Softball Recap: Northridge Knights vs. Box Elder Bees

Northridge had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it seven. They lost 22-2 to the Box Elder Bees. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in March.

Northridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Sherieffs, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

As for Box Elder, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Box Elder's side, Kennadie Blackmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Blackmer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lucy Griffin and Kailee Hall did most of the damage at the plate: Griffin went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Hall got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and five runs. That's the most RBI Griffin has posted since back in March. Brooke Richards also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
