Softball Recap: Lockport Snags 21st Win in Last 22 Games

It's playoff time, and Lockport had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Lincoln-Way East Griffins get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Thursday. Give the Porters' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Kelcie McGraw made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rheanna Slavicek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Lockport hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 15 consecutive matches.

Lockport is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Lincoln-Way East, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-7.

Looking ahead, Lockport will square off against Lincoln-Way Central at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 24th straight win, something the Porters surely won't give up without a fight. Lincoln-Way East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
