Softball Recap: D'arbonne Woods Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hicks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask D'Arbonne Woods). They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Hicks Pirates on Saturday. D'Arbonne Woods might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Aubrey Zachary spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, D'Arbonne Woods got a massive performance out of Joley Bennett, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Bennett has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lylah Jones (Lylah), who scored a run while going 5-for-6.

Bennett wasn't the only one working in the hit department: D'Arbonne Woods kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

D'Arbonne Woods has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. Hicks' defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.

Looking ahead, D'Arbonne Woods will square off against Calvary Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hicks, they will host Anacoco at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
