Volleyball Recap: Hobart Comes Up Short

Hobart lost against Wheeler back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Brickies took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats. The Brickies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Hobart was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Wheeler work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 24-26, 25-6, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Hobart saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ira Hicko had ten digs.

Wheeler can attribute much of their success to Brianna Bouma, who had 19 digs. Those 19 digs gave Bouma a new career-high. Payton Arney also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Hobart's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Wheeler, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Hobart has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Andrean on the 25th. As for Wheeler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Calumet New Tech on the 25th.
