Batavia was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Elgin on Friday. The Bulldogs breezed past the Storm to the tune of 35-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Batavia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Brummel, who rushed for 79 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Another pass catcher making a difference was Darin Ashiru, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one TD.

Another reason for the win was Batavia's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Nick Jansey and Jack Brown, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Batavia got some further help from Jansey: he picked up 0.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory got Batavia back to even at 1-1. As for South Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Batavia and South Elgin will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bulldogs will face off against rival Glenbard North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, South Elgin is set to challenge their familiar foe Larkin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
