Basketball Recap: Garfield Boilermakers vs. New Milford Knights
Garfield lost against New Milford back in February of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Garfield Boilermakers were outmatched by the New Milford Knights and fell 77-29. While losing is never fun, the Boilermakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Knights are ranked 106th).
New Milford was led to victory by Dariel Liranzo and Luis Placido. Liranzo went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Placido went 10 for 20 on his way to 22 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Liranzo has scored at least a third of New Milford's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Johnson, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Garfield and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for New Milford, their record is now 3-1.
Garfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-42 defeat against Lodi on the 29th. As for New Milford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-33 loss against Tenafly on the 29th.
