Recap: Wilson Hall Barons vs. Northwood Academy Chargers

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Wilson Hall Barons walked away with it. They put the hurt on Northwood Academy with a sharp 49-28 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Wilson Hall, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Perhaps the best among them was Clark Kinney, who rushed for 17 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 77 yards and a touchdown. Dylan Jones was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.

Northwood Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aydan Hogan, who picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Austyn Grady who threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Northwood Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Gabe Roper and his two sacks.

The win was the third in a row for Wilson Hall, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.33 points. As for Northwood Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Wilson Hall will head out on the road to face off against Florence Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Florence Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, Wilson Hall a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Northwood Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
