It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but University had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Manitou Springs Mustangs 16-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their 14th in a row.
Gage Viken was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Damian Alvarez was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Preston Natividad was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
