Weeki Wachee falls despite strong effort from Isaac Priester

Recap: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Springstead Eagles

The Weeki Wachee Hornets struggled with assists on Friday (the Springstead Eagles had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Weeki Wachee fell 63-53 to Springstead. While losing is never fun, Weeki Wachee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 566th, while Springstead is ranked 259th).

When it comes to explaining why Weeki Wachee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaac Priester. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jean Garcia, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.

Austin Nicholson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Springstead, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zion McKenzie, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Weeki Wachee bumped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Springstead, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Weeki Wachee will be playing at home against Nature Coast Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springstead, they will head out on the road to take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
