Baseball Game Preview: Sam Rayburn Rebels vs. Whitewright Tigers

The Sam Rayburn Rebels will head out to face off against the Whitewright Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitewright took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sam Rayburn, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Sam Rayburn was able to grind out a solid win over Trenton, taking the game 8-3.

Cade Nichols was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Clay Caldwell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Whitewright was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 9-5 to Honey Grove.

Whitewright saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jett Henley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Sam Rayburn is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Whitewright, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Sam Rayburn was able to grind out a solid win over Whitewright when the teams last played back in March, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
