Basketball Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Logansport Berries

The Caston Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Logansport Berries at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Caston saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lewis Cass. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Kings 12-6 in the first quarter.

Caston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Madisyn Douglass, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Grace Colvin, who shot 54% from the field on her way to 17 points. Douglass is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Logansport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. The game between the Berries and Pioneer didn't end well, with the Berries falling 38-23.

Caston will need to focus on slowing down Lily Clem, one of several Logansport players who made an impact when they last played. She posted five points and eight boards.

Caston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Logansport, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Caston has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Logansport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
