With a playoff game on the line, Aquinas rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Athens Academy Spartans by a score of 31-20. Winning may never get old, but the Fightin' Irish sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Jim Franklin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. Christian Kates was another key player, gaining 111 total yards and a touchdown.
Aquinas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Aquinas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jack Rhodes.
Aquinas has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
