Basketball Recap: Conestoga Takes a Loss

Conestoga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 62-55 to the Syracuse Rockets. The Cougars lost against the Rockets in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-25 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Conestoga saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Rodis went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. Rodis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Davida Garrett, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Conestoga's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Syracuse, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conestoga will host Raymond Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raymond Central will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Conestoga surely won't give up without a fight. As for Syracuse, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Douglas County West at 6:00 p.m.
