District 10 Region 4 AA recap Oct. 3, 2012
Fairview's Tanner Tregaskis rumbled for the longest rushing play in District 10 Region 4 AA this season in his game against Seneca last week.
Corry extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Northwestern, 12-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Beavers.
Ben Kocan and Shannon Jackson gave the Tigers a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Kocan threw for 32 yards and one touchdown, while Jackson ran for 252 yards. Daniel Paden also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.
Tyler Engle was the best wideout in the league this week as Corry defeated the Wildcats. Engle racked up three receptions for 29 yards. Randy Clapp helped Corry's passing attack out by catching two balls for 21 yards.
Homer DeLattre's team's Nathanel Smith and Engle have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading District 10 Region 4 AA in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 539 yards this season, while Engle, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 15 catches for 194 yards. Jackson from Fairview leads the league in rushing with 1146 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Beavers take on the Bobcats. Corry's offense has scored 171 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Seneca has allowed only 206 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North East takes on Girard. As it stands, the Grape Pickers are in third, while the Yellowjackets are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when North East takes on Girard. Matt Shesman's team has allowed 65 points this season, while Jim Funk's team has given up 82.
The Grape Pickers moved up to 278 from 317 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. North East was able to make the jump by beating Fort LeBoeuf 21-0.
