Football Game Preview: IC Catholic Prep Knights vs. Marist RedHawks

The IC Catholic Prep Knights will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Marist RedHawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. IC Catholic Prep's defense has only allowed 14 points per game this season, so Marist's offense will have their work cut out for them.

IC Catholic Prep made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Nazareth Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights fell just short of the Roadrunners by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nate Lang, who threw for 255 yards and two TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes. 89 of Lang's passing yards were hauled in by Will Schmidt, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

IC Catholic Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaden Penna, Grant Bowen, and Schmidt picked up one apiece. Jalen Banks was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Marist faced Joliet Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The RedHawks fell 23-17 to the Hilltoppers. The defeat leaves the RedHawks still looking for their first win of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, IC Catholic Prep fell to 3-1. As for Marist, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

IC Catholic Prep came up short against Marist in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, falling 34-27. Thankfully for the Knights, John McAuliffe (who rushed for 212 yards and four scores, and also picked up 41 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
