Softball Recap: Grand Valley Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Grand Valley came out on top against Badger on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Mustangs took their game against the Braves 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Braves two weeks ago, they had to take a 9-6 loss.

Natilly Hostetler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Breanna Rowland was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Jenna Poyer was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Grand Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Grand Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Badger, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grand Valley will challenge rival Mathews at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Badger is set to face off against their familiar foe Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
