Basketball Recap: Des Moines Comes Up Short

Des Moines lost against Springer back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Des Moines Demons lost to the Springer Red Devils at home by a 57-43 margin. While the Demons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Red Devils 15-4 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Des Moines still got an impressive performance from Destry Sumpter, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. That's the most points Sumpter has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Long, who put up eight points and six rebounds.

Des Moines dropped their record down to 10-14 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Springer, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-14.

Des Moines has already played their next match (against Maxwell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Springer, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Wagon Mound at 5:00 p.m. Springer is facing Wagon Mound at the right time seeing as Wagon Mound is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
