Basketball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for New Trier

New Trier won the last time they faced Oak Park-River Forest and things went their way on Monday too. The New Trier Trevians managed an 80-74 victory over the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies. Given the Trevians' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Huskies are ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Trier pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Oak Park-River Forest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Trier will take on Evanston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Trier knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Evanston likes a good challenge.
