Recap: Gates Chili Spartans vs. Webster Thomas Titans
The Gates Chili Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 62-44 fall against Webster Thomas. Gates Chili has not had much luck with Webster Thomas recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Gates Chili's loss came despite strong showings from Jaden Robinson and Joey Vigerzi. Robinson scored 14 points, while Vigerzi scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Derrik Davis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gates Chili bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Webster Thomas, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gates Chili will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fairport at 7:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Fairport presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gates Chili in New York (Fairport is ranked 164th, while Gates Chili is ranked 475th). Webster Thomas will be home for the holidays to greet Webster Schroeder at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Webster Schroeder is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
