Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Freedom Patriots
The Jefferson Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Freedom Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 15 consecutive losses for Jefferson and 18 for Freedom.
Jefferson suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 58-27 loss at the hands of Dunedin.
Meanwhile, Freedom came up short against Blake on Tuesday and fell 37-30. Freedom has struggled against Blake recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Emma Schroeder put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 16 points. That was a full 53.3% of Freedom's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jefferson's loss was their 20th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.7 points per game. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.
Jefferson couldn't quite finish off Freedom when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 42-39. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
