Softball Game Preview: Galt Warriors vs. Liberty Ranch Hawks

Galt hasn't had much luck against Liberty Ranch recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will take on the Hawks at 3:30 p.m.

Galt is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Union Mine.

Lexi Maldonado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

Meanwhile, Liberty Ranch came tearing into Tuesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Pride 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Laura Quinn looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Khali Barrantes was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xiana Juarez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Liberty Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Liberty Ranch pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Galt, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.

Galt suffered a grim 30-0 defeat to Liberty Ranch in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
