Football Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. Winn Mavericks

The Jay Mustangs will face off against the Winn Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Jay is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Southwest Legacy last Thursday. The Mustangs were just a hair shy of victory and fell 17-16 to the Titans. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Jay saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brennan Oliver rushed for 101 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Winn was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-33 heartbreaker at the hands of Southwest Legacy.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jay fell to 3-1. As for Winn, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Jay strolled past Winn in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 18-0. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
