Baseball Recap: Moss Point Comes Up Short

Moss Point had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 8-14 to make it five. They came up short against the Forrest County Agricultural Aggies, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Forrest County Agricultural, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

For Forrest County Agricultural's part, Lee Roberts III made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Roberts III has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Forrest County Agricultural is undefeated when Roberts III posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Parks Brock was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kason Walker, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

While Moss Point had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
