Volleyball Recap: Norwich Free Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Rockville

Norwich Free Academy faced Rockville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Rams. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Norwich Free Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-20.

Their offense was headlined by Gavin Hecker and Keegan Johnston, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Alec Ferland and his 16 assists. Finally, Victor Claudio kept Norwich Free Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Norwich Free Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Rockville, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Norwich Free Academy will challenge rival Woodstock Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Rockville is set to square off against their familiar foe Capital Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
