Nicholas County had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it four. They fell just short of the Greenbrier West Cavaliers by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Grizzlies have suffered since April 3rd.

Abby Hilleary put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over 9.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Myah Scott made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
As for Greenbrier West, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.
Like Nicholas County, Greenbrier West also got a great game from a two-way player: Brilee Redden. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Redden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Preslee Treadway, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Diana Porter, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Nicholas County will head out to challenge Woodrow Wilson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greenbrier West, they will challenge Sherman at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
