Football Recap: Robert Pineda's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Los Fresnos over United

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Los Fresnos couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the United Longhorns on Saturday. The matchup marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Robert Pineda, who threw for 142 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 75 yards. 81 of Pineda's passing yards were hauled in by Ricardo Salazar, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead United to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colt Lozano, who picked up 126 receiving yards and one touchdown. Lozano's receiving production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 108 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Jorge Luna, who threw for 249 yards and a pair of TDs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Los Fresnos fell to 11-1. As for United, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Los Fresnos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for United, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-7 defeat against Lake Travis on the 28th.
